To identify a font on a website, right-click the text and select 'Inspect' (F12), then inspect the 'Computed' panel to view the active 'font-family'. To identify a font from an image or screenshot, upload it to automated font identifiers such as WhatTheFont (MyFonts), Font Squirrel Matcherator, or WhatFontIs. These tools analyze character shapes and match them against typographic catalogs.

A serif font features decorative strokes, feet, or projections extending from the ends of letter stems (e.g., Times New Roman, Georgia, Garamond, Baskerville). Serifs guide the eye along lines in printed books and traditional editorial media. A sans-serif font ('sans' meaning 'without' in French) has clean, unembellished strokes (e.g., Helvetica, Arial, Montserrat, Inter), making it the gold standard for high-legibility digital screens and modern apps.

To change the system font size on iPhone, open Settings > Display & Brightness > Text Size and drag the slider, or toggle larger sizes under Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size > Larger Text. Choose your .otf, .ttf, or .woff file, confirm that you own the licensing rights, and the uploaded font will immediately appear in your typography dropdown inside any design project.

Instagram's app interface uses Apple's native San Francisco font on iOS and Roboto on Android. The famous Instagram wordmark logo is a custom cursive script designed by Mackey Saturday. To make a custom font, you can draw glyphs by hand or in vector software (like Adobe Illustrator) and import them into font editors such as Glyphs (macOS), FontLab, or FontForge (free, open-source). For handwriting fonts, web tools like Calligraphr allow you to print a template, draw your alphabet with a pen, scan it, and generate an installable .otf or .ttf file.
